Brett Levett won Round Two of the Premier League in convincing fashion at Old Town last night to move to within a point of table-topper Simon Stanley, who finished fifth.
Levett took out Ed Godfrey early on to establish a significant chip advantage which he held on to throughout the night with a classic display of patience poker.
Home player Steve Botting endured another miserable night of poor hands and went out in sixth, a result which leaves him rooted to the bottom of the table with just a single point.
Stanley's exit appeared to leave John Byrne and Charlie de Wirtz in a battle to take on Levett in the Heads-Up, but, in what in many ways was the performance of the evening, it was the short-stacked Christina Botting who - by cannily biding her time and intuitively picking the perfect moments to play her hands - won through to claim the highly valuable six points and move up to third in the table.
De Wirtz went out fourth leaving Byrne with his second succesive third-placed finish. Round Three at The Hangover is scheduled for Friday, 30 April.
The top half of the Premier League table now reads like a countdown to lift-off - Stanley 11, Levett 10, Christina Botting 9, Byrne 8, Godrey 6, de Wirtz 5, Steve Botting 1.
