POKER PREMIER LEAGUE: ROUND FIVE
Christina Botting registered her first ever poker victory and catapolted herself up to third in the Premier League Table in a dramatic night at Fiennes Den.
She now sits just two points behind league leader Simon Stanley after adopting an ultra-agressive approach that put paid to the hopes of de Wirtz, Byrne and.....whoops - husband Steve.
The top three in the League prior to the start were the first three out tonight, leaving the destiny of the inaugral Premier League Title wide open again.
Charlie de Wirtz went out first, shortly followed by Byrne and then Stanley, a sequence of events which left even host Ed Godfrey with renewed hope of getting back into the hunt for the League Title.
Steven Botting went next after being outfoxed by his wife on an all-in call, and was swiftly followed by Brett Levett, who will host the final round.
Host Godrey initially made some inroads into Christina Botting's significant chip advantage in the Heads-Up battle, but was ultimately made to pay for an impatient all-in move and had to settle for second place.
Round Six will be hosted by Simon Stanley on August 6, but tonight belonged to Christina Botting, who in registering her maiden victory became the fifth different winner of a League game in five rounds and blew open the Title race again. The result leaves five players still harbouring realistic ambitions of landing the crown.

POKER PREMIER LEAGUE: ROUND FOUR
Charlie de Wirtz blew the Premier League Title race open again with victory in his home game in the fourth round.
After going All-In twice in the early hands to gain a slender advantage, he sat tighter and became chip loser only to resort to a mixed-play strategy which saw him hold on and reach the Heads-Up against Simon Stanley.
The result leaves de Wirtz on 18 points, five behind Stanley and Byrne who are joint top on 23 points following their respective second and fourth positions.
Third placed went to Steve Botting who held a temporary chip lead but failed to secure the victory that was essential to reinvigorate his title challenge.
Brett Levett went out fifth to leave him on 15 points and still with aspirations to win the League given that the last round will take place at Hunters Rise.
There is much to happen before then, with the next round set for June 6 at Fiennes Den, with host Ed Godrey - out of contention - seeking to restore pride and secure a top-four finish.
The race for the title of inaugural Premier League Poker Champion appears to be between five contenders - Brett Levett, Christina Botting, Charlie de Wirtz, Simon Stanley and John Byrne.

POKER PREMIER LEAGUE: ROUND THREE
The dynamics of the inaugural Poker League shifted dramatically as John Byrne won his home round in a fascinating game to collect an invaluable twelve points and move to the top of the table.
Ed Godfrey and Charlie de Wirtz went out seventh and sixth respectively despite both establishing slight early chip advantages, leaving them level on six points apiece.
In what was by far the longest League game to date, Steve Botting went out next following lengthy chip exchanges, leaving the four highest-placed players in the League to battle it out, each knowing that a win would send them top.
Brett Levett, who took de Wirtz out for the second round in a row, looked set for at least another top-three finish but lost out dramatically to Stanley's runner-runner threes to finish fourth.
Christina Botting's impressive form continued as she bagged third place and another four points, leaving her level with Levett on 13 points.
Byrne's Heads-Up win over Stanley made him the first player to avail himself of the bonus points on offer for players who finish in the top three in their home round. The result continued his superb League form and leaves him on 20 points, three ahead of Simon Stanley.
The next round is at The Square on May 14, with pressure on de Wirtz, Godfrey and Steve Botting to start delivering or kiss their Title aspirations goodbye.

POKER PREMIER LEAGUE: ROUND TWO
Brett Levett won Round Two of the Premier League in convincing fashion at Old Town last night to move to within a point of table-topper Simon Stanley, who finished fifth.
Levett took out Ed Godfrey early on to establish a significant chip advantage which he held on to throughout the night with a classic display of patience poker.
Home player Steve Botting endured another miserable night of poor hands and went out in sixth, a result which leaves him rooted to the bottom of the table with just a single point.
Stanley's exit appeared to leave John Byrne and Charlie de Wirtz in a battle to take on Levett in the Heads-Up, but, in what in many ways was the performance of the evening, it was the short-stacked Christina Botting who - by cannily biding her time and intuitively picking the perfect moments to play her hands - won through to claim the highly valuable six points and move up to third in the table.
De Wirtz went out fourth leaving Byrne with his second succesive third-placed finish. Round Three at The Hangover is scheduled for Friday, 30 April.
The top half of the Premier League table now reads like a countdown to lift-off - Stanley 11, Levett 10, Christina Botting 9, Byrne 8, Godrey 6, de Wirtz 5, Steve Botting 1.

TROPHY RETAINED AT THE SQUARE
Charlie de Wirtz retained the Trophy last week to claim the first silverware of the season but insisted it would have no bearing on the outcome of the second round of the Poker Premier League next month at Old Town.
The win over Brett Levett was de Wirtz's fourth straight heads-up appearance in the Trophy and his third triumph.

POKER PREMIER LEAGUE: ROUND ONE
Simon Stanley fought back from a dreadful start to claim the first Premier League win of the first ever Poker Season at Swiss Cottage.
Looking like he was heading out first after losing two big hands early on, Stanley steadied the ship and hit some cards that paved the way for him to play his way back in.
Home player Christina Botting threw caution to the wind in the early hands to build up a useful chip lead, but just failed to avail herself of the bonus points that a top three finish would have afforded her, finishing in fourth place.
Husband Steve Botting - whose mind appeared to be anywhere but the table - suffered the ignominy of being the first player out, and now faces pressure to secure a high-placed finish in his home game in the next round of the League on March 21.
Brett Levett can consider himself unlucky when his pocket eights failed to hold up against sevens, leaving him with the one point that accompanies sixth place. Trophy holder Charlie de Wirtz was next out after a quiet night, followed by the host. John Byrne's third place represented a reasonable start to the campaign and sent him back to Brighton with four points, leaving Ed Godfrey as the man who lost out in the Heads-Up battle with Stanley.
